Plane Crash That Killed Harborough Man Was ‘Accident’

An inquest jury has concluded a plane crash which claimed the life of a Market Harborough man was an accident.
Tom Castle died along with experienced aerobatics pilot Emily Collett, when the biplane came down in Oxfordshire in August 2019.
Mr Castle, aged 30, had taken up an aerobatics scholarship and was described as an ‘outstanding candidate’ during the hearing.
The Pitts S-2A Special biplane took off from an airfield in Berkshire and crashed about 8 miles away, 10 minutes into the flight.
The jury at Oxford Coroner’s Court heard Mrs Collett may have suffered a heart attack, but senior coroner Darren Salter said there was insufficient evidence to conclude that beyond reasonable doubt.
