‘Impatient’ Driver Gets Stuck Between Two Fire Engines

Firefighters are appealing for people to ‘drive reasonably’ after an impatient driver got stuck between two fire engines at the scene of a blaze in Scraptoft.

The Mercedes squeezed past one by going onto the grass verge on the single-track Covert Lane, but then got stuck between the other appliance and an ambulance.

Crews were dealing with a building fire at the time on Tuesday evening, during which one person needed treatment for smoke inhalation.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service have released pictures of what happened in a bid to raise awareness.

A spokesperson said: “The car driver and the occupants of the vehicle made it known that they were annoyed with the hold-up and kept asking crews how long we would be.

“If you see blue lights, please drive reasonably and if in doubt, please just ask.”
