Owners ‘Devastated’ After Stolen Puppy Found Dead

A stolen puppy has been found dead in a village near Lutterworth.
The body of Fudge, a four-month old Cocker Spaniel, was discovered in a wooded area in Gilmorton yesterday afternoon, four days after he was taken from a car at Fosse Meadows Country Park near Broughton Astley.

The puppy was taken from a crate after the rear window of his owner’s Vauxhall Astra was smashed, when they had left the vehicle for just a few minutes to use a toilet.
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the theft to come forward as an investigation continues.
Sergeant Jess Harper said: “This is heartbreaking news and our investigation remains ongoing to establish the full circumstances and find out exactly what happened to Fudge.
“We have been speaking with Fudge’s owners who are, as expected, absolutely devastated.
“We continue to appeal to anyone who has any information to get in touch with us.
“Were you in the area of Fosse Meadows Country Park on Wednesday morning? Did you see or hear anything which caused you concern? Have you seen or heard anything about Fudge since which could help us in our investigation?
