New Trees At Market Harborough Rec For Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

35 new trees have been planted around a recreation ground in Market Harborough to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year.
The District Council has planted a mix of different varieties at Burford Green on Western Avenue, including five specially-named Queen Elizabeth Acer trees.

Other improvements for the area are also being discussed.
Cllr Jonathan Bateman, the Council’s Cabinet lead for environmental services, said: “As part of the build up to our celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we are planting trees across the district.
“Whilst the Jubilee bank holiday is a while off, we need to plant the trees now to ensure they thrive.
“The trees are also helping improve and enhance our open spaces, including Burford Green in Market Harborough, and we are in discussion with ward councillors to explore further improvements for this area.”
