New House Approved Despite Opposition

Plans to build a house on land behind the Black Horse Pub in Foxton have been given the go-ahead despite objections from villagers.

Over 80 expressed concern about the development – involving the demolition of a garage – because it’s in a conservation area and would see a reduction in car parking spaces.

Resident representatives spoke at last night’s Harborough Council planning meeting, as well as the applicant.

A previous plan for a house on the site was refused last year, after it was deemed to be out of keeping with the area, although councillors were happy with various changes, including lowering the height of the proposed house.

Planning permission was granted.
