New Bridge Finally Opens!

Written by on 29th March 2019

A long-awaited new footbridge over the railway in Little Bowden has finally opened today, meaning two sides of the village are connected once again.

It has been nearly four years since the well-used light-controlled pedestrian crossing linking Glebe Road with Braybrooke Road was closed by Network Rail, after being deemed a safety risk.

The bridge project, which has cost £1m, has been beset with problems and delays ever since – the latest before Christmas, when contractors were forced to leave the site because a key piece of legal permission hadn’t been granted.

They returned last month to complete the groundworks, with the structure opened for use this morning.
