New Benches For Town Centre As Upgrades Continue

New ‘accessible’ benches to cater for people with disabilities are to be placed in Market Harborough’s Memorial Gardens.

They will be installed along with other new benches across the town centre, as part of further improvements to the public realm.

Harborough District Council say the enhancements, funded by over £24,000 from the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund, will make the town centre more cohesive, accessible and welcoming for everyone.

The new benches will be designed to match the planters recently installed in the town centre and plaques from the old benches will be transferred to them, with any existing benches still in good condition relocated to provide much-needed improvements to seating in other areas of the district.

Cllr Jo Asher, Cabinet lead for Culture, Leisure, Economy and Tourism, said: “We are thrilled to implement these important upgrades as part of the Market Harborough Town Centre Masterplan.

“They will not only enhance the functionality and beauty of our town centre but also demonstrate our dedication to sustainability and accessibility for all.”
