Multiple Crews Tackle Blaze At Former Airfield

A large fire has broken out at the former Bruntingthorpe Airfield in the Harborough district.
Multiple crews are at the scene on the site, which is now used as a vehicle test track and storage facility.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said seven fire crews and an aerial ladder platform were involved in the response.
A brigade spokesperson said a large plume of smoke was coming from the area and local residents are being advised to close their windows and doors.
People living as far away as Fleckney and Kibworth have reported a strong smell in the air.
No further details about what the fire involves have been released at this stage.
