More Details On Plan To Save Market Harborough Tip

More details have been revealed about plans to keep Market Harborough’s tip open on a part-time basis.

The Recycling and Household Waste Site on Riverside would be open three days a week – Thursday, Friday and Saturday – if new proposals by Leicestershire County Council are approved.

The facility had been threatened with closure under cost saving plans, but following mass opposition from residents and additional government funding, the authority now intends to keep it open on a reduced basis.

Under the new plans opening hours at Kibworth tip would reduce from five to four days a week – it would be open Sunday – Wednesday.

The council has launched a new consultation to get residents’ views on the latest proposals, which if approved are set to take effect in October.
