‘Mini Tornado’ Hits Northamptonshire

The clean-up is continuing after what has been described as a ‘mini-tornado’ hit parts of the Hfm region yesterday morning.
Winds of up to 70mph brought down trees, fences, roof tiles and even some walls, with north Northamptonshire among the areas worst hit.
Some roads were also blocked by fallen trees, including the A508 near Lamport and A14 towards Kettering.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service received 131 calls to assist the public and Northamptonshire Police had over 200 weather-related calls.
The windy conditions forced last night’s fireworks display at Desborough Football Club to be postponed – it will now take place next Sunday – November 7th.
A period of heavy rain yesterday morning also brought flooding to some areas in and around Market Harborough.
