DJ Gavlar is a vinyl-loving selector bringing feel-good soul, disco, funk and house to the airwaves on Harborough FM.
He believes music is more than just something we hear — it’s the soundtrack to our memories. Gavlar loves the moments when a song instantly transports you back to a place, a person or a dancefloor. His shows blend timeless classics with forgotten gems, sharing stories, trivia and the musical connections between tracks.
Away from the studio he’s the creator of Jukebox Disco and From Disco To Disco, event concepts built around the idea that great music should feel personal, interactive and shared.
By day Gavlar works in the UK energy sector as an electrical engineer. Behind the decks he’s focused on one thing: helping people rediscover the songs that mean something to them.

My journey with HFM is very similar to a number of presenters, back in December 2023 when I attended the HFM Introduction to Radio course and you can blame Phil Jesson for this as he encouraged me to sign up to the course. Once completing the course the hardwork commenced under the “wing” of Steve Watts and what fun was had learning new skills and how to run a show. My background is IT and this was so useful in running the radio system. Music wise, I enjoy many different artists and musicians from the 50s to current day, if I like a song it will get played, but I enjoy the shows more when I receive the requests from the HFM listeners.
