Meeting Held Over Continued Fly-tipping

A meeting has taken place between a housing developer and council bosses over continued illegal fly-tipping on a new homes site in Market Harborough.

The talks came after William Davis Homes called for authorities to do more to help them deal with the issue on the Wellington Place estate.

Operations director David Dodge said: “We were pleased to be able to meet with councillors and officers from Harborough District Council recently to discuss the issue of fly-tipping at the Wellington Place development.

“William Davis has already implemented several measures to restrict and deter the act of fly-tipping on the development site, we will be acting on advice received at the initial meeting, and will continue to work closely with the council on this matter.

“A follow-up meeting is being planned for the near future to ensure an open line of communication is present between both parties to aid the safety of residents in Market Harborough.”

Cllr Phil Knowles, Leader of Harborough District Council said: “Councillors and officers from Harborough District Council and representatives from William Davis Homes had a successful and open meeting about fly-tipping on the Wellington Place development in Market Harborough.

“All available options are being looked at by the developer and we will continue to work together on the issue of fly-tipping in this area, with a follow-up meeting planned for the near future.”
