Medbourne Villagers Unite In Bid To Save Post Office & Shop

Residents have pledged over £250,000 to try and save the Post Office and village shop in Medbourne from closure.

A campaign was launched after the business was put up for sale, but no offers were made to retain the 100-year-old store.

A group of villagers have set-up a Community Interest Company with the aim of buying the shop and over 80 people have so-far committed to buying shares in it.

An application is now being made for a further £250,000 from the government’s Levelling Up Community Ownership Fund, which if successful would also allow the group to extend the store and help run it.

It is the only shop in Medbourne and the only remaining Post Office in the Nevill Ward comprising of 18 villages, following the closure of the branch in Great Easton last week.
