Market Harborough Rail Passengers Urged to Only Travel if Necessary

Rail passengers in Market Harborough are being urged to only travel if absolutely necessary following Friday’s fatal train crash near Bedford.
The incident has caused major disruption on the Midland Main Line, with East Midlands Railway warning that problems are likely to continue throughout the week.
All southbound services from Market Harborough are currently terminating at Bedford because the line between Bedford and Luton remains closed.

A limited replacement bus service is operating, but journey times are significantly longer than normal.
The disruption follows a collision between two East Midlands Railway trains on Friday evening.
Train driver Shaun Burton, 60, died in the crash when the service he was driving struck the rear of another train near Bedford.
Around 100 people were injured, including at least nine who suffered critical injuries.
Investigations into the cause of the collision are continuing.
East Midlands Railway is advising passengers to check before travelling and only make journeys if essential while repair work and investigations continue.
