Man Gets Struck Trying To Rescue Parrot

Firefighters have rescued a man who got stuck up a tree while trying to rescue a parrot in a Harborough village.
The escaped bird called Rio was spotted on high branches in Manor Field Play Park in Thurnby, but its owner got into difficulty while attempting to reach his pet and needed rescuing himself.

Fire crews were called to the scene on Uppingham Road just after 9.15am yesterday and used an aerial platform ladder to reach the man and bring him safely the ground.
Rio is also now safely back home.
Roads were closed while the rescue took place and a spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The owner climbed up to rescue their pet parrot, which was stuck in the tree and needed help to get down.”
