A man has admitted smashing a shop window in Market Harborough after handing himself into Police.

He used an advertising board to cause the damage at Fenella Clothing in the Old Town Hall building on High Street, just after 5am on Bank Holiday Monday (May 5th).

Leicestershire Police say the 33-year-old fully admitted smashing the window and has expressed genuine remorse for his actions.

He will now pay the repair costs and send a letter of apology to the shop’s owner, after being given a conditional caution.

Officers say the business was happy with the course of action taken.

A conditional caution is an out-of-court disposal where an offender agrees to specific conditions, as an alternative to prosecution.

Failure to comply with the conditions can lead to the offender being prosecuted for the original offence.
