Major Repair Work At Council Buildings

Major repair and improvement work is set to take place at Harborough District Council’s headquarters and the Market Hall in Market Harborough.
Roof repairs are needed at both buildings to prevent leaks and the ageing unreliable lift used by traders at the Market Hall needs to be replaced.

The council has set-aside nearly £2m to cover the cost of both projects, with repairs to windows and masonry also needed at the historic Symington Building on Adam and Eve Street, which is also home to the town’s library, museum and banking hub.
A contractor for the Market Hall project has been appointed and work on the roof is due to begin in July, with the lift modernisation scheme set to start in the autumn.
HDC says it will be working with the market traders to keep the disruption to a minimum.
The council’s cabinet is still to give the go-ahead for the repairs to the Symington Building.
