Major Renovation Work Continues at Symington Building

Work is getting underway on the next phase of major renovations at Market Harborough’s historic Symington Building.
Scaffolding has now been erected at the rear of the town centre landmark as work begins on the roof, masonry and windows.
The six-month project forms part of a wider restoration scheme costing more than £2m.

It follows earlier work to the front of the building, which is now nearing completion, with scaffolding expected to be removed from that area in the coming weeks.
The former corset factory is the council’s headquarters and is also home to Harborough Museum, the town’s library, job centre and Citizens Advice centre, a coffee shop and an ice cream parlour.
Harborough District Council says the project is designed to protect and enhance the landmark while ensuring it remains a key community hub.
