Major Development Plan Moves Forward

Plans to build over 1,400 new homes to the north of Market Harborough have moved forward.

Hallam Land and William Davis Homes have submitted first stage proposals to build on 350 acres of land, east of the B6047 Harborough Road and south of Gallow Field Road.

Shops and a new ‘all-through school’, or potentially separate primary and secondary schools are also included in the plans, together with land for cemetery provision and a temporary agricultural showground.

Both sites have been identified for development in Harborough District Council’s draft local plan, however developers are looking to move the plans forward before it is adopted.

The application handed to the council seeks to determine whether an environmental impact assessment (EIA) is needed, before a formal planning application is lodged.
