Machine Fire Spreads To Field

A baling machine was destroyed after it set alight while being used in a straw-cut field in Bruntingthorpe.

Three fire crews were called to the scene at 5pm yesterday and worked to stop the blaze spreading further – although around an acre of straw was also involved.

A mechanical fault was blamed for starting the fire.

Meanwhile, firefighters also dealt with a grass fire in Hallaton.

They were called to Cranoe Road just before 4.30pm to deal with the area that was well alight.

Crews from Market Harborough requested further support to supply water as they tackled the fire.
