Local Volunteers Awarded For Work On Waterways

A group of Harborough waterways volunteers has been recognised with a
special award this week.

Annual awards are given to teams and individuals across the UK’s inland
waterway network – to reflect the range of volunteering which takes
place.

Foxton Locks maintenance team has been given the ‘Team Award’ by
waterways charity The Canal & River Trust, together with the Marsh
Charitable Trust.

The gong is for the Harborough volunteers’ support across the 34-acre
site – providing ‘expertise, skill and knowhow’ plus ‘excellent customer
service’ to all who visit.

Along with the other East Midlands winners, six members of the Foxton
team attended a special awards ceremony in Nottingham – at the
Canalhouse pub in the city.
