Plan For Leisure Centre Upgrade To Resume

Plans that could see Market Harborough get a new leisure centre are set to progress later this year.

The scheme has been on hold in recent months, due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, although is to re-visited by Harborough District Council in the next financial year, starting in April.

Two options are being considered – a brand new centre at a new location, like Airfield Farm, or a major re-vamp of the current facility off Northampton Road.

The Council said it will also look to refurbish Lutterworth Sports Centre.

A period of public consultation is still to take place, the get the views of residents.

Leisure Centres in Market Harborough and Lutterworth remain closed because of lockdown restrictions.
