The Chairman of Leicester City Football Club is to donate £1m to a hospital charity appeal.
Khun Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, or ‘Top’ as he is affectionately known, will give the money to Leicester Hospitals Charity’s Neonatal Incubator Appeal.
The amazing gesture was announced at the club’s end of season awards yesterday.
The neonatal service, spread across Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital, cares for babies in the first 28 days of their life, who have either been born early, have low weight or who have a medical condition that requires specialised treatment.
Money from the appeal will help replace and upgrade older incubators with state-of-the-art models.
