Legal Action Stepped Up To Prevent Work On New Homes Site

Legal action has been stepped up to prevent a developer continuing any work on a new homes site in Desborough.
North Northamptonshire Council has issued a full ‘Stop Notice’ and ‘Enforcement Notice’ to Avant Homes, for breaches of planning conditions at the development off Buxton Drive and Eyam Close.
A temporary ‘Stop Notice’ was put in place last month ordering all work on the site to cease for a limited time, following complaints from near-by residents.
The notices state no work should have started on the site before a traffic management plan for construction vehicles had been approved and details of how existing trees and hedges on the site were to be protected.
Last year the developer was criticised for removing a six-metre high hedge, which separated the site from a near-by house.

A council spokesperson told HFM: “North Northamptonshire Council’s Planning service has received a number of complaints in relation to developer activity on this site.
“A planning enforcement investigation is in progress and as a part of this, we can confirm that both a Stop Notice and Enforcement Notice have been served.
“Given the ongoing nature of the investigation it would be inappropriate for the Council to make further comment at this stage.”
An Avant Homes spokesperson told HFM: “Following a temporary stop notice served at our Desborough site, we have submitted a comprehensive package of information to North Northamptonshire Council for consideration.
“We will continue to work positively and proactively with the council to address any outstanding matters and rectify any breaches that have been identified.”
