Legal Action After Kibworth Man Died After Having Covid Jab

A woman from Kibworth Beauchamp is taking legal action after her husband died from a ‘rare reaction’ to a Covid-19 vaccine aged 50.

Father-of-two Neil Miller developed fatal blood clotting after having an AstraZeneca jab in March 2021 and died less than two months later.

His widow Kam is among 80 claimants suing the company, arguing the vaccine was less safe than people were entitled to expect.

Kam received £120,000 through the government’s Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme, which provides one-off compensation for those injured by vaccines or to bereaved next of kin.

However, she says it is not enough to make up for the impact of her husband’s death on her and their children Sophia and Eshan.

Neil died from vaccine-induced immune thrombosis and thrombocytopenia (VITT) and an inquest into his death concluded he had a ‘rare reaction’ to the Covid-19 vaccine.

Mrs Miller says she is not anti-vaccination, but told HFM she and others affected deserve adequate compensation for what happened:

Sarah Moore, of solicitors Leigh Day – which is representing Mrs Miller and other claimants – said: “We are fighting for compensation for individuals and families who have been severely affected as a consequence of this rare but very serious adverse events as a result of vaccination.

“Kam’s husband Neil very tragically passed away and she is now left with a significant mortgage she needs to meet on her own.

“He would have been working and bringing income into the house and providing for their children and Kam.”

“The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) has granted full marketing approval for the vaccine based on its safety profile and efficacy.

“Over 3 billion doses of the vaccine have been supplied to more than 180 countries and, according to independent estimates, the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine helped to save more than six million lives worldwide in the first year of availability alone.”
