Latest from Summer Drink Drug Drive campaign

Two weeks into this summer’s Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Road Safety Partnership Drink Drug Drive campaign, it’s been revealed that four drivers in the Harborough District have been caught over the limit so far.

That is out of 63 arrests made across the whole of  Leicestershire.

Whilst welcoming the relatively low number from our area, Leicestershire Police say no-one should be behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or taking drugs.

Officers highlight other safe transport options such as a designated driver who’s not going to drink, using public transport or calling a taxi.

The latest campaign comes off the back of national figures which show  the number of people killed in crashes involving drivers under the influence is at a 12-year high.
