Last-Ditch Bid To Stop Controversial Re-Development Plan

Campaigners are stepping up their fight to stop part of an elderly persons’ housing scheme in Market Harborough being demolished to make way for 38 new homes.
It comes as councillors are set to consider a planning application for the redevelopment of Naseby Square on the Southern Estate in December.
Residents from bungalows that would be flattened have already been relocated.

Harborough District Council, which is behind the plan, say the Naseby Square redevelopment is an ‘exciting collaborative scheme which aims to replace ageing properties with modern, fit-for-purpose homes.’
The Council is considering selling land it owns at the site to Platform Housing Group.
Marion Duffy, Platform’s Chief Operating Officer said: “We are continuing to undertake discussions with Harborough District Council regarding the future development of Naseby Square.
“We are committed to keeping up our ongoing programme of consultation with customers and as soon as any decisions are made we will update all those involved.”
