Large-Scale Response After ‘Medical Emergency’

A man has been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Market Harborough this morning.

Emergency services were called to Lenthall Square off Western Avenue just before 10am, after reports a driver had suffered a medical emergency.

Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and an Air Ambulance crew responded to the incident in a car park and firefighters released the casualty from a car.

An EMAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 9.52am today to Lenthall Square, Market Harborough. The caller reported a medical emergency. We sent a medical first responder, a paramedic in an ambulance car, two crewed ambulances and the air ambulance was also in attendance.

“We transported one patient to Kettering General Hospital via land ambulance.”

Firefighters from Market Harborough and Kibworth attended the scene and a spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two vehicles were involved, and the driver of one of them had to be extricated from his vehicle.

“He was placed in the care of our EMAS colleagues.”
