Kathryn’s Special Fundraiser Raises Hundreds

A Desborough woman has raised over £700 for a charity very close to her heart, after taking her first steps outside her house in months. 

Kathryn Croker had a life-changing kidney transplant seven years ago when her Dad donated one of his kidneys.

She remains on medication which lowers her immune system, meaning she had to ‘shield’ when the lockdown came into force in March.

Together with her family, Kathryn held a 3.5 mile fundraising walk across seven bridges in Rushton for Kidney Research UK, after the charity had to cancel its annual fundraisers because of the pandemic:

Kathryn’s husband Luke moved out for two months in a bid to protect her during the lockdown and even spent some time living in their garden shed.
