Jobs At Risk After Market Harborough Firm Bought By Rival

Jobs are at risk after a Market Harborough food firm was sold to a rival company.

Fosters Foods has been bought by Cottage Delight, which will transfer all operations to its base in Staffordshire.

It is understood up to 20 members of staff have had their jobs placed at risk of redundancy as a result of the sale.

The Moguntia Foods base on Great Bowden Road

Fosters, which supplies speciality foods to garden centres, farm shops and tourist attractions, was part of the Moguntia Food Group based on Great Bowden Road.

It will continue to operate its other businesses from the site.

The company has not commented on the impact of the sale on jobs, but Paul Yeates, one of the owners, and a group board member of the Moguntia Food Group, said: “This divestment is part of our strategy to focus on our core activities.

“We are committed to growing our Moguntia Food (Sherriffs Foods and Hay Hampers) business, which will continue to operate from our Market Harborough site.

“We will be working closely with the Cottage Delight team on a smooth transition.”

Vickie Milligan, managing director at Cottage Delight, said, “In 2024, Cottage Delight is celebrating its 50-year anniversary by looking forward to the next 50 years.

“We have invested to build a more efficient operation, and more sustainable product.

“This acquisition allows us to grow our range and our sales to make the most of this investment and we are very happy to do this with such an established brand.”
