Job Fears After High Street Chains Enter Administration

Jobs are under threat in Lutterworth after the Original Factory Shop was placed into administration, alongside high-street chain Claire’s.

More than 2,500 jobs are at risk after owner Modella Capital said last-ditch efforts to save the businesses had failed.

Almost 300 hundred stores across the UK and Ireland could close, including the Original Factory Shop on George Street in Lutterworth.

A Modella Capital spokesperson said: “This has been a very tough decision. We have worked intensively in an effort to save both businesses, having made last-ditch attempts to rescue them, but neither has a realistic possibility of trading profitably again.

“A combination of very weak consumer confidence, highly adverse government fiscal policies and continued cost inflation is causing many established and much-loved businesses to suffer badly.”
