Investigation Launched After Homophobic Comments Made During Harborough Town Match

Harborough Town Football Club has launched an investigation after homophobic comments were made by some of its supporters during last night’s home match.

The club has also issued an apology to opponents Easington Sports, calling the behaviour by a small section of the crowd ‘appalling’ and ‘unacceptable’.

A statement, released on behalf of the Harborough Town FC Board of Directors, reads: “The club would like to apologise unreservedly to the players and officials of Easington Sports, the match officials and to any of our own supporters for any offence caused by this totally unacceptable behaviour.

“As an inclusive community club, the Board of Harborough Town are appalled that such comment were made and we will be investigating the matter further.

“The Board want to make it very clear that it will not tolerate behaviour of this kind and that any individual found acting in this manner will be banned from the club.”

Harborough won the match 7-0 to climb to the top of the UCL Premier South League.
