Investigation After Elderly Man Struck By Van in Market Harborough

Police are investigating after an elderly man was struck by a van in the car park of a Market Harborough retirement complex yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Tebbutt Lodge on Clarence Street just before 5pm.

Officers say the pedestrian, aged in his 80s, was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing and enquiries into the collision are on-going.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and an Air Ambulance crew also attended the scene, with their helicopter landing at the Symington’s Recreation Ground.

A spokesman at Tebbutt Lodge told HFM: “Following the accident yesterday we are focused on supporting the gentleman involved and his family, and we wish him a swift and full recovery.

“At the same time we are working hard with all those involved to establish the circumstances which gave rise to it.”
