Inquiry Into Magna Park Expansion Begins

A public inquiry has begun into whether Magna Park near Lutterworth can double in size.
The business park’s owner, IDI Gazeley, appealed Harborough Council’s decision to refuse permission for the expansion, meaning the government inspector chairing the proceedings will have the final say.
The hearing – which is set to last eight days – is taking place at the Symington Building in Market Harborough – and will hear evidence from the company – the council – and campaigners.
The company says the expansion will create just under 6,000 jobs.
But campaigners say it will wreck surrounding countryside and choke rural roads with traffic.
