Husbands Bosworth Quarry To Be Brought Back Into Use

A quarry in Husbands Bosworth which has stood dormant since 2019 is to be brought back into use, creating around 50 jobs.
Sand and gravel extractions will re-start at the site off Welford Road, after Leicestershire County Council approved the plan yesterday.

The site will in operated my Mick George Ltd over five phases for the next eight years, with each area to be restored once extraction is complete.
A total of 900,000 tonnes of sand and gravel is to be extracted at up to 200,000 tonnes a year.
The plan was approved despite concerns about an increase in traffic from vehicles travelling to and from the site, includng through near-by Welford,
It is estimated there will be around 230 vehicle movements a day.
