Hundreds Of Residents Object To Energy Plant Plan

Hundreds of residents are opposing the building of an Anaerobic Digestion Plant near Great Bowden.
Over 600 people have signed a petition against the development and 280 objections have been lodged with Leicestershire County Council, which will consider the plan.
The multi-million pound plant is earmarked for a former mushroom farm on Welham Lane and would turn straw and chicken manure into gas, which would be fed into the national grid.
Concerns raised by residents include traffic safety, potential smells and the impact on a nearby country park.

Harborough MP Neil O’Brien launched the petition and has voiced his opposition to the plan, together with representatives of Harborough District Council.
The company behind the plan, GMT biogas, has told HFM it will meet Great Bowden Parish Council and community representatives next week, in a bid to allay concerns.
