Huge Pile Of Rubbish Dumped In Country Lane

Fly-tippers have dumped a huge pile of rubbish next to a sign warning offenders will be fined and prosecuted.

Including a bath, mattresses, bed frames, broken mirrors, children’s toys and general household waste, it was discovered strewn across a country lane on the outskirts of Scraptoft.

Harborough Council, who will clear up the mess opposite the entrance to Scraptoft Burial Ground, close to the Scraptoft Golf Club, has also launched an investigation in bid to find where the rubbish came from.

A Harborough District Council spokesperson said: ‘We do not believe that this is a new fly-tip and suspect that it has been moved from nearby private land.

“However, as the fly-tip is on the public highway, we will be removing the waste over the next couple of days.

“We treat fly-tipping very seriously and will take any necessary action against those who offend. If anyone has any information regarding this incident please contact us at: www.harbrough.gov.uk/tipoff
