Horse Injured After Getting Trapped In Gate

A horse has been left injured after getting trapped in a gate in Kibworth Beauchamp.

The animal was left with cuts following the incident at Smeeton Road Recreation Ground this afternoon, which is believed to have happened when it reared-up after being ‘goaded’ by a group of schoolchildren.

The horse, which is kept in a field adjoining the park, became trapped in a metal kissing gate and fire crews were called to help release it.

The animal was freed following sedation from a vet and is continuing to receive treatment.

The horse’s owner is urging parents to talk to their children about the need to respect horses.

Firefighters from Market Harborough and a specialist rescue crew from Southern Fire Station attended the incident.
