Residents Meet Police After Stabbing ‘Sent Shockwaves Through Desborough’

Residents in Desborough have expressed concern to Police after a stabbing in the town.

Over 50 people attended a meeting last night following the incident in Regent Street last week, which left a 16-year-old boy seriously injured.

A 15-year old boy arrested in connection with the attack was questioned and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Residents also raised concerns about an increase in anti-social behaviour in the town, with Police saying it is vital they support investigations.

Officers from the Northamptonshire force attended the meeting of Desborough Town Council and Cllr Phil Sawford spoke to Hfm afterwards:

Sergeant Mark McInulty of the Neighbourhood Policing Team was at the meeting and told Hfm: “Crime and anti-social behaviour are clearly a concern and affecting the local community and we will continue to work with our partners to resolve such issues swiftly and deliver a positive outcome.

“However this is not always possible unless people are willing to support us with our investigations. Without the necessary evidence, a prosecution is not possible, and this can sometimes be misinterpreted as a lack of policing action.
