Harborough Boxing Brothers Target National Titles

Two young boxing brothers from Market Harborough are hoping to be crowned national champions this weekend.

Jimmy and Billy McCann have reached the semi-finals of the England Boxing National Schools Championships after strong performances in earlier rounds of the competition.

The pair, who are supported by their dad James and box for City of Leicester Lightning, will compete in Newcastle upon Tyne tomorrow, with a place in Sunday’s final at stake.

Thirteen-year-old Jimmy says they have been putting in plenty of hard work ahead of the championships.

Billy, 12, says he is feeling confident ahead of the big weekend.

Jacob McCann is also following in the footsteps of his brothers and training for his first bout.
