Fundraising Drive To Help Ben Johnson

A fundraising drive has been launched to help an inspirational Market Harborough man who is battling cancer.

Ben Johnson, 33, also wants to raise awareness of alternative treatments available for people like him, which are not offered by the NHS.

Ben was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer in 2017 and had extensive surgery to remove a tumour from around his heart, together with several rounds of chemotherapy.

This, along with immunosuppressive medication caused nerve damage though, leaving Ben having to cope with chronic pain.

Ben found out earlier this year the cancer had returned and has a poor prognosis.

He has since enrolled on a self-funded trial with a specialist clinic in London, where he combines a strict diet with medication and supplements, and has daily oxygen therapy, together with high-dose intravenous vitamin C infusions – all approved and are encouraged by Ben’s GP and Oncologist – but not funded by the NHS.

Ben’s aunty, Lisa Barnes, has setup a fundraising page to help pay for them and already over £7,000 has been raised towards the target of £10,000.
