Shops, cafes and pubs in Market Harborough are being urged to sign-up to a new scheme, allowing people who are not customers to use their toilet facilities.

Harborough Council is behind the ‘Community Toilet Scheme’ which will see a blue sticker displayed on windows of participating premises.

They hope it will encourage people to visit places they wouldn’t normally and in turn draw in new customers for those businesses.

The authority is stressing the move isn’t a replacement for the public toilets in the town centre, with no plans to close them.

The scheme is also running in Lutterworth and it’s hoped to extend it to surrounding villages too.
