The population of the Harborough District has risen at one of the fastest rates in the country.
New census data shows it has gone up by over 12,000 in the past ten years to 97,600, a rise of 14.3%, which is the biggest jump in the East Midlands.
The number of people living in the district aged over 65 has increased by 38.5% to 21,593, which is the second highest rise in England.
The initial data released by the Office For National Statistics, following last year’s Census, shows an increase of 10.1% in people aged 15 to 64 years, and an increase of 5.2% in children aged under 15 years.
Just over 1,000 more women than men are living across Harborough and there are 1,000 people aged 90 or over.
