Harborough Youngsters Secure Secondary School Places

Written by on 1st March 2023

The majority of youngsters have secured a place at their first choice of secondary school in Leicestershire.

Figures released on National Offer Day show that 90.5%, which is just over 7,000 students, have been offered their preferred place when they transfer from primary this autumn.

The figure for securing a place at one of their top three choices stands at around 97.5%.

The percentage of children securing a first choice or preferred choice of schools is higher than last year and Deborah Taylor, lead member for children and families at Leicestershire County Council, said: “We’re very pleased that around nine out of 10 children have secured their first choice of school and the majority of our students will be able attend a secondary school of their choice this autumn.

“If parents or carers wish to accept the place, they don’t need to do anything more.

“However, we also recognise that not every student has secured one of their preferred choices. Those children will have had an offer for their nearest school with places.”

Technical problems with the county council’s online admissions portal prevented parents finding out decisions earlier today, but they have since been emailed details.
