Harborough Residents Need Photo ID To Vote At May’s Local Elections

Residents across Harborough will have to show photo ID when voting in May’s local elections.
The new rules are being introduced nationwide in a bid to prevent fraud.
From today, anyone who does not have one of the accepted forms of ID, like a driving licence or bus pass, can apply on-line for a free Voter Authority Certificate, which will be accepted at polling stations.
Liz Elliott, interim chief executive and returning officer at Harborough District Council, said: “With elections taking place in the Harborough district on 4 May 2023, it is important that those who want to vote make sure they have an accepted form of ID.
“It may seem early but checking now means you will be ready to vote in May.
“Residents who do not have one of the accepted forms of ID can apply for free ID either online or by completing a paper application form and sending this to Harborough District Council’s electoral services team.
