Harborough Man Jailed For Distraction Burglaries In Rothwell

A Market Harborough man has been jailed for over three years for tricking his way into homes of pensioners in Rothwell.

William Wallace stole items from a 90-year-old man after calling at his house in Moorfield Road late at night, claiming he was owed money.
He also targeted a 78-year-old woman, saying she needed work doing on the roof of her house in High Hill Avenue.
Police arrested him a few days after the incidents on June 29th, following a public appeal for information.
Wallace, 50, of Leicester Road, appeared at Northampton Crown Court today, after admitting carrying out the burglaries on June 29th.
He was sentenced to three years and five months behind bars and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228.
