Harborough Couple’s Wedding Plans Ruined After Venue’s Sudden Closure

A bride-to-be from Market Harborough has hit out at the way the sudden closure of a wedding venue was handled by its owners.

Jenna Brennan was due to get married to partner Mike Bullock at Catthorpe Manor near Lutterworth next year, after winning a competition to stage their dream wedding there.

The operator of the hotel and wedding venue went out of business last month, announcing they had ceased trading on Facebook, leaving the wedding plans of dozens of people in ruins.

The couple are set to lose £750 which they paid as a deposit for catering and potentially more money for other wedding services they had booked.

After the elation of winning the competition, Jenna told HFM they were not contacted by the venue about the closure, instead being told by the bridal shop she ordered her dress from:

Some people have been able to claim back money via banks, but this is not possible for Jenna and Michael.

Luckily though, the company the couple won the competition with have agreed to honour the prize at another venue, so their wedding will still be able to take place.

However, not all of the vendors already booked were willing to switch to the replacement location, meaning they could lose more money.

In a statement released on Facebook, Catthorpe Manor said they “sincerely apologise for any distress caused by the closure”.
