A Market Harborough couple have become among the first in the country to become mixed-sex civil partners.

Mary Ann & Gareth with their children, Joseph (10) & Hannah (8)

Mary Ann Lund and Gareth Wood, who have been together for 21 years, and have two children, have never wanted to marry, but have taken advantage of a change in the law that came into force on New Year’s Eve.

Previously it only allowed same-sex couples to be civil partners.

They are the first mixed-sex couple in Leicestershire to become civil partners and registered it at a ceremony at Market Harborough Registry Office at the Symington Building.
