The campaign for a new cinema in Market Harborough has been boosted after prospective operators held talks with the District Council.
Over 1,000 people signed an on-line petition supporting the need for a cinema and a search for potential sites is continuing.
Harborough MP Neil O’Brien launched the latest campaign and spoke to Hfm:

Neil O’Brien MP & Council Leader Phil King
Octagon Films show films at Harborough Theatre, although the town has been without a dedicated cinema for many year.
Cllr Phil King, “A cinema is something we’d love to see in Market Harborough. It’s a brilliant market town with such a wide range of restaurants, bars and cafes – having a cinema in the town would really work well as part of the strong offer we already have here.
“The Council has had some initial discussions with prospective operators and work is ongoing on our town centre masterplan, so we’ll be doing our best to ensure we continue to make the town as attractive a place as possible for a cinema.”
