Harborough Bus Services Under Threat
Written by HFM News on 3rd February 2023
Four Harborough bus services are under threat as Leicestershire County Council prepares to re-start a major review of subsidised routes.
Increasing cost pressures means the authority is having to reduce the money it provides bus operators to run the services, including the number 30 and 33 buses in Market Harborough, 44 that links the town with Foxton and Fleckney and the 58 which runs to and from Lutterworth.

Each route will be looked at in detail, before it’s decided if they will continue running in their current form, under a reduced timetable, or not at all.
These passengers who rely on the 30 and 33 services in Market Harborough gave their reaction to HFM:
Councillor Ozzy O’Shea, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “If the recommendation on a particular route is to withdraw services, some residents may still have access to an alternative service.
“Where residents are left without access (over 800 metres) to an alternative service, we’ll look at providing a demand responsive transport service to cater for travel to essential services.
“When we reach out to communities which are affected, we’ll be asking for feedback about times, frequency and community-specific factors.”
The council says a reduction in passenger numbers and missing out on £58m of government funding to support bus services has exacerbated the situation.
